French news
grades 2 and 3
Dear Parents, This month, the children will be reading familiar French texts in class and a different one will be introduced every2 weeks. We will practice reading and acting out the text using actions. This is a fun way to practice their oral and reading comprehension skills. Grammar concepts will be introduced while reading. During our centers, the children will collaborate in small groups by playing games and completing written activities related to the story. The following story will be introduced this week and will continue well into next week. A new story will be posted soon. The grammar concept introduced in this story is the noun, and they were asked to search for the nouns in the story. You may practice reading the story with your child paying close attention to correct pronunciation and using expression and gestures. This is a reminder to all grade 3 students: ALL FRENCH IMMERSION FORMS NEED TO BE HANDED IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. A big thank you goes out to all those students who have already handed in their forms. Merci! Madame Panetta |
Welcome to my French blog! During the month of September we are reviewing familiar French phrases used in the classroom, and the goal is to encourage speaking in French as much as possible. The children are also writing about themselves and will be presenting it to the rest of the class. The expectations for this oral and written presentation will be discussed with the children ahead of time and will soon be posted on my blog for your reference. Any work which is not completed in class will be sent home to be completed for the following day.
Here is a list of phrases we will be learning in class: Puis-je avoir is a sentence starter for things that you want. Puis-je emprunter is a sentence starter for things that you borrow. 1. For example: jeudi has the blend sound eu which is found in words like bleu. Breaking the words down into syllables by clapping them out is one of the strategies we use in the classroom. We also play cooperative games as a class or in groups in order to meet the needs of all types of learners in a fun and interactive way. The children will be reviewing words such as the days of the week, the months, the seasons, the numbers 1-31, and school supplies. Please feel free to contact me through the agenda or at school should you have any questions. Thank you, Madame Panetta
